Mikel del Rio is a working artist inspired by figurative painting to which he adds a contemporary and innovative touch. He uses photography as a basis for most of his work, studying all the elements of the photograph and uses it in his painting process. He also studies light with very much thought and incorporates it in his productions with the upmost importance. The study of negative space and odd composition is very much present in his pieces which creates hyper-realistic yet architectural artworks.
Del Rio graduaed in Fine Arts from UPV and has Masters Degree in Paintings at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). He showed his work in Paris’ Urban Art Fair and several shows in France and Spain.
