Jokin Sortwo (b. 1988, Spain) is a painter and muralist whose practice emerges from the visual language of street culture while engaging with the history of painting. His works assemble a rich constellation of personal references - music, cinema, manga, and Japanese animation - forming dense pictorial worlds that blur the boundaries between popular culture and fine art. Working across both large-scale murals and oil paintings on wood, Sortwo reinterprets impressionist techniques through a contemporary lens. The resulting images balance spontaneity and control, transforming familiar cultural imagery into immersive compositions that reflect the artist’s ongoing dialogue between urban visual culture and painterly tradition.
